Stem Cell Facelifts are based on the regenerative capacity of adult stem cells. The cells can replace worn and damaged cells. These stem cells exist in the fat tissues in the
stroma. When stem cells are isolated and transplanted they grow and survive in the new areas helping to form new tissue at the site. By using stem cells either alone or with
transplanted fat, a marked improvement of survival of these tissues occurs.
The stem cell facelift is different from other fat transplant procedures because the autologous (from self) isolated stem cells can be placed into areas that have had transplanted
fat, and/or autologous Growth Factors (PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma), and/or Hyaluronic acid. This will help the stem cells and adipose tissues survive and grow into the needed
tissue to restore lost fat. This enhances the volume of the face and improves both the quality and texture of the skin.
What is the procedure and how is it different from other “stem cell” facelifts?
The stem cell procedure is performed under local anesthesia. After injection of the solution to the desired areas (lower abdomen, inner thighs, etc.), a fat sample is used to
gather the cells.
The fat is then processed like a regular stem cell procedure. Most clinics claim stem cell procedures do not actually separate-out- the stem cells from the fat stromal
compartment. This leaves the stem cells “locked-within” the collagen sheath, limiting their potential to grow. At the Advanced Laser Clinic we only provide the real “extracted
and isolated” stem cells for the stem cell facelift procedure.
Autologous Growth factors can be used along with adipose fat cells, Hyaluronic acid, and the isolated stem cells themselves.
Dr. Bligh uses professional lifting and filling techniques to make a natural look with out looking “overdone”. Dr. Bligh may perform a laser-assisted or chemical resurfacing of
the skin to remove fine lines and skin damage and to stimulate the underlying stem cells.
Some patients may have fat sculpted out of specific areas of the face, such as the jowl and jawline area. Depending upon the patient’s aging features, fat is both removed and
transplanted while the skin is tightened throughout the whole facial surface.
How is the procedure different from a conventional fat grafting or lip transfer?
Fat grafting or Lipo Transfer is the process of transferring the fat to an area, but the stem cells are “locked” inside the tissue stroma. Real Stem Cell Facelifts isolate the
stem cells from the fat itself and then reintroduce the stem cells into the desired area.
How long is the recovery time?
Expected recovery time is 3 to 10 days depending upon the severity of the aging process and the procedure. Swelling and drainage from the fat sample can continue for a few days.
Will I be satisfied?
Our physicians will discuss your individual results, recovery time, and expectations at length during the initial consultation. The procedure has resulted in an extremely high
patient satisfaction level.
How do I know if I am a candidate?
The stem cell facelift is an ideal procedure for those who chose facial rejuvenations without the risks of facelift surgery. If you have moderate signs of facial aging you may be
a good candidate for this procedure. Normally that involves soft tissue loss in the mid-face with mild to moderate wrinkling of the skin. It is ideal for patients who have
moderate facial aging and/or who have had precious facelifts. Good candidates will sometimes have deep nasolabial fold areas, or desire enhanced cheekbones, etc.
Each procedure is customized based on the patients’ individual aging process. The process may involve a transplantation of fat to specific areas of the face, brows, chin and jaw,
and removal of fat from the specific areas to create a more useful contour.
In summary, those patients who are looking for a natural un-operated look with a marked youthful improvement, are ideal candidates.
No Descending Jowl Candidates
The “stem cell facelift” restores lost volume of the midface and “lifts” the upper face. It doesn’t “pull” the skin as in the traditional surgical facelift. The stem cell facelift
does little to correct jowling. If you have jowling, Dr. Bligh will recommend a treatment plan that suits your individual needs.
A PRO touch-up is recommended 8-12 months after the procedure, to help with stimulation of the transplanted cells. A PRP Growth Factor injection is done in the office with little
or no downtime or bruising. Sunscreen and anti-aging cream is recommended for the first 6 to 12 months to optimize both skin and subsurface regeneration.
